Chapter 13 — Illinois Debt Consolidation Plan

Chapter 13 is a debt consolidation or "wage earner" plan. People who file for Chapter 13 have some ability to repay their debts and likely don't qualify for liquidation under Chapter 7. Others choose Chapter 13 because it allows them to avoid foreclosure of their home, repossession of their vehicles and keep qualifying assets. Debts on cars, credit cards, medical bills, etc. are consolidated into one monthly payment. Interest rates on unsecured debts, including credit cards, are reduced to zero.

A Chapter 13 payment plan allows people to repay their bills over a three- to five-year time period. The amount that they pay is influenced by a number of different factors. Filing Chapter 13 is a complicated procedure. Don't lose assets you want to keep by not retaining an effective and experienced lawyer. My practice has focused on consumer bankruptcy for 17 years. I know the procedure and can help protect your interests.

Contact Jeffrey A. Bivens, P.C. today if you want to:
